Dookudu 2011 Vs Magadheera 2009 Vs Pokiri 2006

The ‘Dookudu’ mania has picked up and many are seeing it as the best blockbuster for this year. As if that is not enough, a new analysis is being made. Can ‘Dookudu’ beat ‘Magadheera’, the biggest blockbuster of Tollywood’s history. Currently, the hype for ‘Dookudu’ is strong but let us go through few facts and factors between both the films to figure out which is better in both.

When it comes to ‘Magadheera’, it doesn’t give you a bore feeling. The durability factor is high and there is an engaging speed in it. Most importantly, the emotional depth is strong and all genres of audience connected to it. The film has enough material to get repeat audience and the concept in itself was something the Telugu audience had never experienced before. Above all, graphics were of very high quality and the visual splendor was very strong. ‘Magadheera’ came in 2009 and collected about Rs 80 crores.

Speaking about ‘Dookudu’, the entertainment quotient is high but it is only youth oriented. On the bright side, the craze for Mahesh Babu is high and the songs especially ‘Poovai poovai…’ have got crazy response. While ‘Magadheera’ dropped in the comedy factor, ‘Dookudu’ scored big time in it and despite the length of the film, there was not much of dull moment. The long wait to see Mahesh has worked in the film’s favour. Above all, the holiday season and the lack of other big movies around has given a window of two full weeks for the collections to go strong.

On the flip side, ‘Dookudu’ is routine storyline and the pattern is predictable. The emotional graph is less and everything is touch and go. Also, there are instances that big cinemas got good talk in the first week and collections dropped after a week. There is also a comparison about ‘Dookudu’ beating ‘Pokiri’. As such, this comparison is not relevant. There is nothing significant about the time when ‘Pokiri’ came. It released in 2006. Lot of changes happened since then in terms of ticket price hike, release in larger number of theatre etc. So, there is a difference between then and now.

The best way to know who the winner among ‘Dookudu’ and ‘Magadheera’ will be recording the collections after 2 weeks. Each film has its own credentials and setbacks but the audience taste varies from season to season. So it is all on them to see whether they receive ‘Dookudu’ the same way as they received ‘Magadheera’. This should be an interesting battle.
